The RS232 communication standard, established in the \'60s, gained widespread popularity due to its implementation on various devices, including PC motherboards, and remains in use today. This standard has undergone multiple revisions, with the most recent being TIA-232-F (R2012). Originally developed for connecting teletypewriters and modems, it is now used for serial communication between a wide array of different devices. To implement the RS232 communication standard on MCUs, voltage levels require conversion to levels acceptable for modern MCUs. The RS232 2 Click performs full RS232 to UART signal conversion, supporting both 3.3V and 5V operation. Additionally, it features ±15 kV ESD protection for the RS-232 I/O pins. These attributes make this Click an ideal solution for battery-powered, handheld, and portable equipment, PDAs, palmtops, digital cameras, and other devices still supporting the RS232 standard.
