The Mikroelektronika MIKROE-2762 MCP16331 Click Board functions as a non-inverting buck-boost voltage regulator. It is a switching regulator topology that combines principles of buck conversion (step-down) and boost conversion (step-up). A buck converter outputs voltage smaller than the input voltage, while a boost converter outputs voltage greater than the input voltage. By combining these two topologies, the MCP16331 Click Board outputs a regulated DC voltage, settable in code, for input voltages both greater and less than the output voltage. Input voltage range is 4.5V to 18V, output is 2.25V to 12V at 500 mA.
